Folks in Sarasota can now take advantage o a milonga at the New College of Florida in Sarasota. It is head in the music room of the Charles Ringling Mansion on campus. The release says the room is beautiful.

The milonga takes place November 18, 2011 from 7 to 10 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $10 which goes  to the student activities fund at the college. You can pay less if you are broke.

Tango enthusiasts! Oscar Casas and Ana Miguel will bei n Chicago from October 20-23 for workshops. These are for intermediate and advanced dancers. You can attend alone or with a partner when you sign up for the six class package (includes milonga on Saturday evening) or buy a full day pass.

They will try to balance single enrollments so you can find a partner. If you sign up solo you need to sign up with partner beforehand . Email Ray Barbosa at chicagomilonguero@yahoo.com.  Barbosa will DJ and you can sign up for private lessons as well.

Casas was born in a tango barrio in Buenos Aires (Parque Patricios) and his parents were tango dancers in the 50s and 60s. The held milongas that drew hundreds. He learned to dance in his youth and he is very much a milonguero. The release says he teaches with humor and charisma and has a unique style

Miguel began her training in the dance school of Moron Jose Neglia and began teaching with Argentine instructor Poncho Pizarro. She performed for three years in the show Bacanazo at the Empire Theatre and Roman Theatre in Buenos Aires. She has also taught extensively. Schedule and details below.

The first three Fridays in May, Practica El Beso…then..the fourth Friday is Grand Milonga El Beso!. Leo & Cindy preside at Shall We Dance, 600 South Federal Highway  Deerfield Beach, FL.

Just to be sure…May 6, 13 & 20 is practica time 7:30 p.m is lesson time (beginners welcome) and from 9 to 11 p.m. is the practica in the Main Ballroom. Cost is $12 BYOB . A light snack is provided.

The Friday, May 27 is the Grand Milonga El Beso. 7:30 p.m is the lesson and the milonga goes from 9 p.m. til midnight.  Cost is $15 per person, BYOB with a light homemade dinner.

Eddy and Veronica Trill were recently in Argentina giving exhibitions. A video is above via Youtube.  They were invited back to perform in more Buenos Aires’ Milongas in July and August. They are also taking part in this year’s Tango Therapy World Congress in July in Rosario.

They have returned to Florida beginning April 12 and are, once again, conducting their Intensive Tango Tanning at Shall We Dance in Deerfield Beach. They hold a 7:30 beginners class and at 8:30 an intermediate intermediate/advanced class. This is followed by a guided practica until 11 p.m.

Beginning March 31, 2011 Milonga 88 returns. Every last Thursday of every month at Graces Cafe and Gallery , 49 North Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL.

The Milonga begins at 9:15 and goes until 1 a.m. There is a class from 8-9 p.m. (advanced) that costs $5. You should be sure to make a reservation so the number of men to women matches up). Remember this is an ADVANCED class. Unless you are spectacular you should probably have a year of classes under your belt.

The first event takes place Friday, March 18, 2011 and then every other Friday night at the Eden Isles Condominium Club House, 16975 N.E. 35th Ave, North Miami Beach.

There were initially no plans for an American Tango Institute New Years Eve Celebration this year but popular demand changed that. They do want to know who is going to be attending by December 17 at 5 pm.

The cost is $35 for an evening that includes an informal dinner with soup, salad, ham, chicken, various side dishes and sweet table. BYOB on the booze and champagne.

La Ideal is having a Milonga--an all night one--Friday December 31 from 8 pm til 4 a.m. There will be an open bar all night, champagne for the midnight toast and more. There will also be a tango show with special guests and a special show.

There will also be a big screen TV to watch the ball drop in Times Square.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and there will be a buffet at 8:30 p.m. Breakfast Buffet starts at 1 a.m.

Singles and couples are welcome to dance all night. But you should reserve now as tables are filling up. The cost is $55 before December 5 and $65 after December 5th. If there are openings the cost will be $75 at the door.
