If you plan to spend any time in Buenos Aires and are an aficionado of tango (or even mildly curious) you might want to pick up a copy of Tango Lover’s Guide to Buenos Aires: Insights and Recommendations.  The author, Migdala Romero, wrote the book as a sort of guide/memoir. She traveled to Buenos Aires, alone, and learned to find her way in the world of tango. She says the book is, first and foremost, designed to illuminate the culture of tango within milongas and help travelers understand the essence of the events and the dance, as it is done in its birthplace.

There are interviews, a guide to where to go to hear the music, studios, clubs, bars, restaurants, museums and more. There is also a basic guide to Spanish that will be of particular interest to gringos. You can find the book on Amazon.

Or at least they do in Argentina.

I thought this was a video worth sharing

Augustina and Claudio Asprea have been dance partners for thirteen years and have an impressive resume (find out more at www.actango.com.ar). Beginning in July Claudio will be in the USA teaching. I am not 100 % sure if Augustina will be at any of these session (according to the website the two just had their second child…Congratulations!). Nonetheless the pair regularly give tango seminars in the USA, Argentina, Canada and Europe.

Information on the classes in South Florida are in the picture above. Classes will also be held in Rochester, Albuquerque and New York City.

Is there some reason men do not come out to the many wonderful, low cost tango lessons and events in South Florida? They are probably like me—concerned about stepping on people’s feet. No need! That is what the lessons are for.

Another night you can attend, in Dania Beach, is Practica88. Nonstop dancing from 8:30 to 10:30 at 49 North Federal Highway (call 954-639-3823 for more info). If you have a step you are having a hard time with instructor, Yanira Collado will be happy to help.

Wine and lite snacks provided for $15. And in JUNE MEN ARE HALF PRICE.

No excuses!

Oliver Kolker has a tango tour of Buenos Aires coming up in December and it now includes world-famous dancers Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa. For more information check out the website, www.tangoexperience.com or email claudiosolorzano@hotmail.com.

A “new and different” sort of Milonga—Milonga “El Yeite” is happening every Friday at the Czeck-Slovak Cultural Club, 13325 Arch Creek Rd, North Miami, FL 33181 from 830 p.m. until 2 a.m.

The class, which runs from 8:30 to 10, is taught by Eddy and Veronica Hernandez Trill. The first 30 minutes are techniques for all levels and then moves up. They ask everyone to come and enjoy the “ladies tanda”. “multiplication tanda and “meeting new friends tanda.” The aim here seems to be fun and tango!

They also just received a shipment of tango shoes from Argentina which are available for trying on…
